Therapeutic Counselling in Dorking and surrounding areas
Kim Oakley
I offer you an opportunity to explore issues that are causing difficulties and may feel impossible to resolve, or talk through with friends. The environment I work in is both confidential and supportive. Although my therapeutic approach is integrative, I also look at choices and options that may be available to you, in order that you may resolve issues in a way that feels comfortable and appropriate to you. The process allows you to empower yourself, become self aware and note your choices when faced with issues. The counselling sessions give you time and space to work through problems and challenges, with an experienced practitioner, who will encourage you to work towards feeling more confident and in turn more content. A counsellor is not there to judge or give advice but to listen, recognise the client's worth and help them feel valued and understood.
My work is open ended, which allows you to work for as long or as short as you think you need. This may be short term which is for about 6 sessions, or for longer if it is needed. Together, after an initial consultation, we can discuss what may be the most appropriate way to work, but this is fluid and is something that is reviewed from time to time. For some people short term is all they need; for others they value the ongoing support and development they see and continue the therapeutic process for months and years. I will not tell you to continue with the sessions, you can leave when it feels good to do so, although when you feel you wish to stop coming I would suggest one session for us to end and reflect on our time together.
